7aum Arivu Will Be Remade in Hollywood!

Straight from the horse’s mouth and it was silence everywhere in the area, where the media interaction was hosted. Yeah! It all started when a journalist oppugned A R Murugadoss, ‘Like Mementoes to Ghajini, could you let us know your inspiration for ‘7aum  Arivu’?’ Without a pause, A R Murugadoss stunningly replied, “Maybe, makers of Hollywood film may remake it.”

‘WHAT IS OPERATION RED?’-THEME OF ‘7aum ARIVU’

It all happened during the press meet of ‘7aum Arivu’ that was held yesterday at Hotel Residency Tower in Chennai. Addressing the media channels, A R Murugadoss and his entire crew didn’t miss to sing praises of Red Giant Movies Udhayanidhi Stalin for making it happen. ‘No one else would have burned candles at both ends for a newfangled project’ started off Murugadoss, who continued adding that it’s a shame and disgrace for the entire state of Tamil Nadu for having forgotten a hero – BODHIDHARMAN, who is worshipped as a God in China and Vietnam. He is the Guru of Shaolin Monks and spread Zen across the country. He is a medical scientist and Osho has authored a book on him for more than 300 pages. ‘I am sure that the film has already achieved 99% success and the result of 1% is awaited on Diwali’ added A R Murugadoss.

‘Harris Jayaraj frightened urging us to strike with grandiloquence.’- Suriya

‘After you are done watching this film, it’s time for every Tamilian to stand proud and say ‘We are the best in this world’ and so will be the film. We are happy to have unraveled the hidden history’ said Suriya, who was high on praises for his director A R Murugadoss and producer Udhayanidhi Stalin. Continuing to shed lights on the legend Bodhidharman, Suriya uttered, ‘Soon after the release of this film, he will be once again acclaimed as a special person in the history of Tamil history.

‘Suriya is a Galaxy in himself’-Shruthi Haasan

Suriya and A R Murugadoss didn’t miss to bring the assistant directors into the picture saying that they were astonished by their fascinating knowledge about everything under the sun. The technical team has been remarkable and after a long time we will happen to see the credits of cinematographer Ravi K Chandran in a Tamil movie.

WHO IS BHODHIDHARMAN?

KNOW ABOUT BHODHIDHARMAN BEFORE WATCHING THE MOVIE 7AUM ARIVU
Bodhidharma (Tamil: போதிதர்மன்) was a Buddhistmonk who lived during the 5th/6th century and is traditionally credited as the leading patriarch and transmitter of Zen (Chinese: Chán, Sanskrit: Dhyāna) to China. According to Chinese legend, he also began the physical training of the Shaolin monks that led to the creation of Shaolinquan. However, martial arts historians have shown this legend stems from a 17th century qigong manual known as the Yijin Jing.
Little contemporary biographical information on Bodhidharma is extant, and subsequent accounts became layered with legend, but most accounts agree that he was a Tamil prince from southern India's Pallava Empire. Scholars have concluded his place of birth to be Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu.
After becoming a Buddhist monk, Bodhidharma traveled to China. The accounts differ on the date of his arrival, with one early account claiming that he arrived during the Liú Sòng Dynasty (420–479) and later accounts dating his arrival to the Liáng Dynasty (502–557). Bodhidharma was primarily active in the lands of the Northern Wèi Dynasty (386–534). Modern scholarship dates him to about the early 5th century.
Throughout Buddhist art, Bodhidharma is depicted as a rather ill-tempered, profusely bearded and wide-eyed barbarian. He is described as "The Blue-Eyed Barbarian" in Chinese texts.
The Anthology of the Patriarchal Hall (952) identifies Bodhidharma as the 28th Patriarch of Buddhism in an uninterrupted line that extends all the way back to the Buddha himself. D.T. Suzuki contends that Chán's growth in popularity during the 7th and 8th centuries attracted criticism that it had "no authorized records of its direct transmission from the founder of Buddhism" and that Chán historians made Bodhidharma the 28th patriarch of Buddhism in response to such attacks.

7AUM ARIVU MUSIC REVIEW

Starring: Suriya, Shruthi Hassan
Direction: A.R.Murugadoss
Music: Harris Jeyaraj
Production: Udhayanidhi Stalin (Red Giant Movies)
Vocals: Roshan, Jerry John, Benny Dayal, Suchitra, Karthik, Megha , Vijay Prakash, Shruti Haasan, Pop Shalini, SP. Balasubramaniam, Swetha Mohan, Balram, Naresh Iyer, Suchith Suresan, Hao Wang
Lyrics: Pa.Vijay, Na. Muthukumar, Kabilan, Karky

After their first outing in Ghajini turned out to be a big hit, expectations are sky high on the next venture of director A.R.Murugadoss and actor Suriya - 7aum arivu. The mega budget flick is produced by Udayanidhi Stalin's Red giant movies. Let’s see if the team can pull it off this time around.

Oh Ringa Ringa...
Singers: Roshan, Jerry John, Benny Dayal, Suchitra
Lyrics:
Pa. Vijay

The album ticks off with a full-energy 'Oh Ringa Ringa' which has shades of hip-hop wrapped in a catchy Spanish percussion arrangement. The song has unusual words in the usual style of Harris to provide a solid hero introductory song! The stylized composition scores maximum using the support of peppy singing in engaging tones by Roshan, Jerry John, Benny Dayal and Suchitra. Though the song isn't novel, it’s highly entertaining and has the potential to be one of the biggest hits of this year.

Mun Andhi...
Singers: Karthik, Megha
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

The next number 'Mun Andhi' is a sweet, soft, light breezy romantic track. Though the whistle tune at the start reminds of his previous composition 'poove vaai' from 12B, the difference ends right there. It has lovely electronically tuned beats that works well with the angelic chorus (Megha) and sugary lyrics (Na.Muthukumar). With the song having all elements needed to top the charts, Karthik bewitches his listeners with his delightful rendition. Shot in the scenic Krabi islands in Thailand, it should provide a visual treat to Suriya's fans as well.

Yellae Lama...
Singers: Vijay Prakash, Karthik, Shruti Haasan, Pop Shalini
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Harris Jeyaraj's next popcorn entertainer in the album is 'Yellae Lama'. Very infectious desi hard-rock type song with high guitar riffs and jams, to set the required upbeat mood. The talented Shruti Haasan in her rock 'avatar' matches the youthful flamboyant singing of Vijay Prakash, Karthik and Pop Shalini. Trendy choreography should add more spice to this dance-number and would fast catch up among urbane listeners.

Yamma Yamma...
Singers: SP. Balasubramaniam, Swetha Mohan
Lyrics: Kabilan

Simplicity at its brilliance is the trademark of the song, 'Yamma Yamma'. It’s been some time since we heard the legendary SPB in Harris's composition. SPB makes a refreshing comeback to soften the mood of the love-lost character. Kudos to the composer for making a song that is not contemporary, yet strikingly outstanding. Mild gatam beats fuse well with the soothing musical arrangements. Projected to be a huge hit in the same genre of 'Anjala Anjala' song.

Innum Enna Thozha...

Singers:Balram, Naresh Iyer, Suchith Suresan
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay

This is a tribute to the people of Tamil Eezham by Harris and is one of the inspirational tracks, with motivational lyrics from Pa.Vijay. The tenderly and pacifying voices of Balram, Naresh Iyer and Suchith Suresan do the much needed justice to the track.

The Rise Of Damo (Mandarin)...

Singers: Hao Wang Lyrics: Karky `
Supposed to be one of the musical highlights of the film, Harris brings in a fresh fusion of traditional Chinese and South Indian music. It would be interesting to see how both music neophytes and connoisseurs would take to this song. Madhan Karky continues to be out-of-the-box in lyrics, and this time it is in Mandarin.

The album promises a couple of big chart-busting hits like the peppy 'Ringa Ringa', the melodious 'Mun Andhi' and the pathos-ridden 'Yamma Yamma'. Though there is a déjà vu feel all around the album, its a sure shot commercial success, riding high on the mega-valued production, promotion and heavy duty cast & crew.

Verdict: 7aum Arivu - Programmed to please all your 7 senses.

Review

Story

Shankar Narayan (Prakash Raj) is a political leader and a man of masses. He wants his son Ajay (Mahesh Babu) to become a political leader. Shankar Narayan is hurt in an accident and goes into coma. Meanwhile Ajay grows up and goes onto become an aggressive cop. And suddenly Shankar Narayan comes out of coma. The rest of the story is all about how Ajay manages to keep the changes under wrap for his father, and takes revenge on the villains at the same time with some unconventional ploys.

Artists Performance

Mahesh Babu: Mahesh Babu proved himself again that he is a director’s actor. He has a big heart to allow Brahmanandam to take center stage for a few minutes, though it is Mahesh who creates such situations. One should have a flair to time the comedy of Seenu Vytla and Mahesh does it effortlessly. Mahesh is one of the comedians when he is with Brahmanandam and MS Narayana. Mahesh Babu has also excelled in dialogue delivery by mixing Telangana accent in villain confrontation scenes. Mahesh Babu’s trade mark teasing romance works big time in Turkey episodes. You see Mahesh being cheerful and smiling in most of the parts of the film.

Others: Samantha has a limited role in this movie and she does justice. Brahmanandam has a dialogue in the film - nannu vaadukondi saar. Seenu Vytla is one of very few directors who utilizes the talent of Brahmanandam to the maximum extent. All those Brahmanandam lovers will have another feast in this movie in which he acts an actor of a fictitious reality show. The way Brahmanandam keeps expressions for ‘bheebhatsamaina humanity’ dialogue and the scene in which he appeals to Nagarjuna Akkineni using his camera pen is priceless. MS Narayana who has excelled as fire star in Dubai Seenu does another similar role in which he wants to make his debut as hero opposite Genelia. Prakash Raj is seen in a positive role (inspired by PJR) and he is excellent. Vennela Kishore does the role of Sastry whose grandmother is a fortuneteller. Nassar has done a comic role for a difference..

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction:  The basic concept of a person going into coma and that person’s son creating artificial atmosphere around is inspired by a German film titled ‘Goodbye Lenin! (2003) ’. That German film is a serious film and somewhat boring (for me). The story writer Gopi Mohan used that plot and moulded it to make an entertaining script. Seenu Vytla’s main strength has always been entertainment and he made sure that there are ample characters to create humor. He used Brahmanandam and MS Narayanara effectively to create ample humor. Characterization of Mahesh Babu is done well and the director has also shown Mahesh Babu in new light with better comedy timing. Though the entertainment and action orientation is good, there are ups and downs in the narrative graph due to runtime and number of characters. Screenplay of the film is good. The screenplay techniques used on Prakash Raj taking revenge without knowing about it and Brahmanandam’s crazy realty show will surely generate more commercial appreciation. Among all the characters, I feel that the character of Suman is not properly etched. It would have been more powerful if hero is introduced through the words of some other character, not through Suman’s. And the death of Suman is also not justifiable. The following aspects of Seenu Vytla’s trademark

1. Mahesh Babu: heroine teasing in Istanbul n Making Brahmanandam and MS Narayana Bakras.
2. Brahmanandam: SMS voting appeal and appeal to Nagarjuna Akkineni
3. MS Narayana: Showreel (Yamadonga, magadheera, Robo and Simha) and nalukapaina macha episode. Incidentally the same MS Narayana did a photoshoot comedy episode in Seenu Vytla’s Sontham in the past.

Other departments: Dialogues penned by Kona Venkat and Seenu Vytla are good. They are humor dialogues and masala heroism dialogues. Music by Thaman has already become a chartbuster and background music is nice. Cinematography by KV Guhan and Prasad Murella complements to story. Editing by Varma is adequate. The producers trio (Ram Achanta, Gopichand Achanta and Anil Sunkara) have spent a lot of money and the entire film is shot in extravagant style.

Analysis: First half of the movie sets the plot up and it is entertaining. There are ups and downs in the second half, but the entertainment provided by Mahesh Babu, Brahmanandam and MS Narayana takes care of it. The plus points are Mahesh Babu’s charm, Seenu Vytla’s comedy timing and a workable script. On the flip side, there is a bit of redundancy in villain characterizations. Mahesh Babu delivers an universally acceptable entertainer in the form of Dookudu after a gap of five years. Go and watch it.

Trade talk: It’s been ages since a Telugu big star’s film got positive talk on the day one. It is a good omen for Telugu film industry that is literally feeding on Tamil dubbed films in this year so far. With Mahesh Babu’s star power, there is no limit for a movie can achieve with a positive talk. Wait and watch as the records smash in the days come.

MOVIE RATING: 3.5/5

Ra.One Music Out Now!!

Superstar Rajnikanth in 'Ra One'?

If what we heard from the sources is believed to be true, then it’s gonna be a special delight for the global audiences as they’ll see both the Superstar Rajnikanth coming together. According to the sources, it is reported that Superstar Rajnikanth will be seen playing a cameo role in Shah Rukh’s ‘Ra.One’.

There happens to be a sequence where Shah Rukh Khan while fighting with baddies losses his power and Superstar Rajnikanth appears flying through a car and saving him and Kareena Kapoor. Apparently, SRK starts introducing him to Kareena Kapoor using punch dialogues. It seems that Superstar Rajnikanth has accepted to appear in cameo and the shooting will be held at Ramoji Film City on October 4, 2011.
