Kalabhairava, it seems, is riding his steed into the record books. Tollywood’s biggest ever blockbuster Magadheera, which was released on July 31, 2009, has so far collected Rs. 70 crore. The latest is that the film has completed 700 days’ run at some theatres in Andhra Pradesh, breaking the record of Mahesh Babu’s Pokkiri, which ran for 500 days.

The movie, starring Ram Charan Teja and Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles, was directed by SS Rajamouli and produced by Allu Aravind under the banner of Geetha Arts. It was also dubbed in Tamil as Maaveeran and in Malayalam as Dheera. Magadheera also won two National awards, nine Nandi Awards (2009) and five Filmfare (South) Awards (2009).

Billa 2 as summer 2012 treat

While the makers of Mankatha are yet to decide on the release status of album and film, everything is set on right tracks with Thala’s next film Billa-2. Chakri Toleti comes up with official announcements pertaining to the film’s shooting and release date as well.

Chakri says, ‘the film will go on floors from day after tomorrow (July 14, 2011) in Hyderabad followed by other schedules in Goa, Pondicherry, Thailand, Eastern Europe.

Apart from Huma Qureshi, we have signed another actress Bruna Abdullah (I Hate Luv Storys fame) while Prabhu plays an important role. Yuvan Shankar Raja has already started working on music and Na. Muthukumar is penning lyrics. Rest of the crew consists of Selva (Art), RD Rajashekar (Cinematography)…”

Rubbishing rumors on the film’s plot, Chakri adds that the film doesn’t delineate Ajith Kumar as a 20-yr old roughneck, but traverses across 4-5 years from his late 20s and how he becomes world’s most powerful don.

The producers are planning to complete the shooting by end of November and theatrical release is scheduled on April 14, 2012 for the occasion of Tamil New Year Day.

Fame National Now open @ Virugambakkam, Chennai

It looks like in next couple of years, the number of multiplexes in Chennai will run into monstrous figures. Obviously, it isn’t a wonder for Tamil film industry producers more movies annually with big difference of ratio with any other regional film industries. Following the arrival of PVR, AGS Group of Cinemas, Fame India International establishes its footmarks in theatre business now. Though Virugambakkam is known for its commercial values over the years, the idea about launching multiplexes by different groups occurred in the recent times.

However Fame National leads the race by launching 5 Screen Multiplex at Chandra Metro Hall across the busiest lane of Arcot Road in Virugambakkam. It’s hardly 5minutes drive from AVM Studios.

Wanna know more highlights about the multiplex? It has got a wide range of delicious yummy grubs to munch as you’re experiencing visual treats in every screen.

'Maatran' Gets Mediterranean Effect

Harris Jayaraj always prefers flying for foreign places to compose music for his films. He gets so involved with the films that he insists on accompanying the crew to shooting locales so as to give a background score with great impact.

It is worth mentioning that he had previously flown down to London with Shankar for ‘Nanban’. Naturally, the music director has seemingly impressed Shankar and his crew with his best tunes that includes a cherry-pick of having done a song with 15 international languages.

The music director will start his journey with K.V. Anand to Mediterranean seas through a cruise and will compose music for their upcoming flick ‘Maatran’ that stars Suriya and Kajal Agarwal in lead roles.

Good news for Superstar fans

That is the day after tomorrow! He will be on Singapore Airlines and will reach Chennai by 10.45 pm. His family including daughter Aishwariya Dhanush will be returning with him.

All the prayers of the fans have worked it seems, for the doctors have given him a clean bill of health and said that he is fully recovered from his ailment. It is safe for him to return home. It is also expected that he will be back on the sets of Rana by September if not sooner.
