It was August 18th when the tall, dark and handsome man started his career as an actor. Little did he know that Abaswaram was the stepping stone for a truly magnificent and rewarding life ahead. Thirty-six years on, he is the highest paid actor in Asia after Jackie Chan. Yes, we are talking about namma Superstar Rajinikanth who completes 36 years in Tamil Cinema. Starting his career with K Balachander, Rajini has etched out characters which are indelible in memory. Known for his various tricks on-screen, he is called the 'Style Phenomenon'.

Rajini, who acted in negative characters initially, has given some timeless classics as well. His roles in Aarilirunthu Arubathu Varai, Thillu Mullu, Thalapathi, and Baasha can never be forgotten. Also involved in the spiritual side of life, Rajini does a lot of philanthropic activities without much publicity. SCORE! FIRST TIME THAT A TAMIL FILM’S MUSIC FEATURES IN iTUNES STORE’S TOP 10 WORLD ALBUM
THREE days after its grand launch in Malaysia, the music album of the Tamil film Endhiran was on top of the charts of the iTunes Store for a brief while on Tuesday though it came down to second position later in the day.

This is the first time that music scored for a Tamil film featured in iTunes’ Store’s Top 10 World Albums. The music by Academy Award winner A R Rahman for the
film featuring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan remained in the no. 2 slot both in the US and UK.

Though Rahman’s Slumdog Millionaire still figures in iTunes’ Top 10 World Albums in 16 of 22 countries listed on its website, Endhiran has fascinated the world much ahead of the film’s release.

ThinkMusicIndia, which features exclusive content on the film’s audio launch, is also currently the most viewed TV channel in India, with nearly one lakh hits.
Keeping in mind the high demand, Think Music, which has audio rights for the film, has scaled up production of CDs for the film by nearly one lakh copies, compared to Rahman’s recent films. “We manufactured 2.5 lakh CDs of Endhiran to be sold across the world. Of this, about 1.75 lakh CDs are meant to be sold within the country alone,” said Priya Krishnan, head of marketing, Think Music.

Endhiran, the first film to be produced directly by Sun Pictures – at a lavish budget of over Rs 110 crore, is slated for release in September.

The extravagant music launch of Endhiran happened in Malaysia and it was a star studded evening. Many stars flew to Malaysia especially for the occasion.

Super Star lead the pack and Kalanidhi Maran and other heavyweights stole the show. All the people who were there confidently said Endhiran will be the biggest ever film in Indian cinema.

And it was also made official that Endhiran will have a worldwide release early September. All the three versions - Tamil, Telugu and Hindi - will have a simultaneous release, confirmed Sun Pictures Saxena.
