Enthiran's place in World Top 50 in IMDB
The Endhiran is not tiring yet. With records being broken on a regular basis right from the date of its announcement, the latest news may not be surprise at all. Endhiran finds itself among the Best 50 feature films released in 2010 in the Internet movie database (www.imdb.com). The list is based on the number of user votes for the movie. Seven Indian films feature in the Top 50 with others follow suit.
The rating, which is lead by Hollywood blockbuster Inception, has Bollywood movies Udaan (6), Love Sex aur Dhoka (15), Peepli Live (17) and Ishqiya (22) while Endhiran occupies the 39th place. Farhan Akhtar-starrer Karthik calling Karthik and Hrithik-starrer Guzaarish are at numbers 48 and 41 respectively. Interestingly, Endhiran is the only Tamil movie in the Top 50.

"I WILL GO IF SHANKAR CALLS ME AGAIN" -RAJINI
Rajinikanth, during the special interview telecast by a private satellite channel on Diwali, revealed that Shankar approached him with three stories – Robot/Endhiran, Sivaji and another film which is based on mystery of India and is about a hunchback.
Shankar was keen on casting Rajini in Robot but the Superstar declined the offer thinking that he is being offered the villain role as there was a talk at that time that Shah Rukh Khan is being considered to play the lead role.
Rajini was also skeptical if would suit the scientist role and declined the offer. Then it was decided he would star in Sivaji as it was a mass film that Rajini is used to.
After working with Shankar in Sivaji, the Superstar was so confident about the director’s capabilities that he agreed to star in Robot/Endhiran. He also divulged that he took up the offer only because Shankar was wielding the megaphone.
So, do we get to see Shankar and Rajini joining hands for the third time as two of their ventures together have turned out to be blockbusters? Will the Superstar play the hunchback?

ENDHIRAN IN 3D
The success of Endhiran has reportedly prompted Sun Pictures to dub the film in English. Apparently, the producers want to make it a hit among the international audiences too. And in this effort, they have decided to add a few 3D effect scenes.
A 7-minute 3D effect scene was made for Endhiran but this was not included in the movie. Now, there are reports that the producers are contemplating on adding these sequences in the Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions.
With Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai being popular international faces, Endhiran’s English version is sure to reach out to the audience.

RAJINI AND ASH’S COSTUMES ON AUCTION
The Rajinikanth-Aishwarya Rai starrer Endhiran has turned out be a mega grosser. The film has earned immense popularity worldwide with rave reviews. To cash in on this and to help the needy, the costumes worn by Rajini and Aishwarya in Endhiran will be auctioned, we are told.
The auction will happen through the most popular mode – online – so that fans from world over can bid for it. The designer wear worn by Rajini and Aishwarya in Kilimanjaro and O Baby song sequences will be auctioned, sources say. The proceeds from this auction will be donated to various charitable organizations.

Rs 117cr in just 7 days, 'Robot' Rajini smashes all records
Rajinikanth starrer 'Endhiran' has netted a collection of Rs 117 crore, surpassing the first-week collection of Bollywood's highest first-week grosser 'Dabangg' (Rs 82 crore).
Distributor and trade analyst Suniel Wadhwa said, ''The film has got a net collection of Rs 60 crore in TN, Rs 30 crore in AP, Rs 8 crore in Karnataka, Rs 4 crore in Kerala and Hindi version Robot Rs 15 crore. Looking at the trend the film has crossed Dabangg's two weeks net collection in its first week itself.''
'Endhiran' opened in 2,200 screens as compared to 1,400 for 'Dabangg'. An industry source said, ''More than one-and-half times extra screens means the revenue earned is nearly four times extra and that is also helping the film. Also about 92% of cinema halls are running the film and the collection continue to be rock steady.'' The film's report in the Hindi belt too is quite good. Distributor Sunil Bohra said, ''The collection of the film in places like Jodhpur, Ghaziabad, and Meerut continue to remain steady and the film is doing well both in single screen and multiplexes across states.''
Industry sources said since the entertainment tax structure was different in the south, it is difficult to get the gross box office collection. But they said the film had definitely grossed Rs 260 crore which was more than the entire collection of Aamir Khan starrer 'Ghajini'. Bohra said, ''The film has easily made a gross collection of Rs 200 crore plus which is nearly double of Dabangg.''
The Hindi version of the film Robot too has done a business of nearly Rs 30 crore in the first week. Amod Mehra said, ''Robot has broken all the norms of a dubbed film. I don't remember any dubbed film crossing even the one crore mark."

Bigger than the Khans - SUPER STAR Rocks Bollywood !!
The tremendous success of Robot in northern India has stunned many. The film turned out to be a mega grosser not just in south India, where it is considered a Rajini bastion, but in northern parts of India as well.
Move over Shah Rukh Khan; there’s a new king in tinsel town. He’s 61, a god in South India, and now, superstar Rajinikanth has taken over Bollywood fans, too. His latest film, Enthiran-The Robot, has broken all opening weekend sales recorded by any Bollywood film, ever.
With box office collection worth a whopping R56 crore on its first weekend, the film has overshot the record set by Salman Khan’s Dabangg, by 17 per cent.
Even in North India, where it’s mostly Bollywood films that have done well, the movie is a top grosser, beating Anjaani Anjaani, which released on the same day. “We didn’t expect such a great response in the North sector. We’re planning to increase the number of shows in Delhi this weekend — that’s how phenomenal the response has been,” says Shirish Handa of Fun Cinemas.
“Rajinikanth is now the baadshah of the box office, and the numbers prove it,” says trade analyst Taran Adarsh. “Robot has put him on an unmatchable level. His demand is growing both in North India and internationally.”
It’s not just multiplexes that are raking in the moolah. Vishek Chauhan, owner of Roopbani theatre in Purnia, Bihar, insists that both the classes and the masses seem to love the actor in his latest avatar. “We’ve never witnessed something like this earlier. The shows remain full even on Mondays.”
Till three years ago, Rajinikanth’s films would only take South India by storm. The turning point was Sivaji – The Boss (2007). Even the Tamil version was a hit in Mumbai. Now, Robot is repeating the success story like never before. “It’s not Batman or Superman, no blonde-haired, white-skinned super hero saving the world… he is our very own Chitti — one we can all relate to,” says film critic Anupama Chopra.
Enthiran Domestic opening R56 crore, Worldwide opening R160 crore
Dabangg Domestic opening R48 crore, Worldwide opening R90 crore
3 idiots Domestic opening R38 crore, Worldwide opening R90 crore
My Name is Khan Domestic opening R30 crore, Worldwide opening R85 crore

ENDHIRAN MOVIE REVIEW
Starring: Rajinikanth, Aishwarya Rai, Karunas, Santhanam.
Direction: Shankar
Music: AR Rahman
Production: Sun Pictures
With a bevy of machine guns in hand; all triggers locked, Superstar delivers a resounding punch line; ‘Happy Diwali folks’. Yes, it was Diwali, minutes before the start of the first show here in Chennai with crackers going off in thousands, flowers flying around and people going delirious with excitement. This is Diwali; no matter even if
the real one is still a month away, Superstar has arrived!
Well, let us get down to the task. There is nothing much to reveal about the plot of Endhiran; one supposes. Thousands of speculations, predictions and of course, a mad frenzy about the trailer has given a rough idea about the plot. Endhiran is about Dr. Vaseegaran and Chitty, his creation- the robot with a 1 Zettabyte memory and a speed of 1 Terrabyte. From then on it is a ‘Chitty showcase’, of action, dance, emotions, fun and frolic. Watch Endhiran for the experience.
The foremost thing about any Superstar film is Superstar himself. He is the air the film breathes, right from the first frame. The biggest entertainer that India has produced, weaves magic on screen; even a nonchalant saunter on screen makes theatres erupt in celebration. Watching Endhiran one feels no doubt whatsoever that no one other than Rajnikanth could have pulled off this character. It is destiny that brought Endhiran to Superstar after travelling all through Kollywood and Bollywood. He delivers a tour de force performance – he owns the film. Be it as the workaholic scientist, the obedient Chitty or the destructive Chitty (‘upgraded version – Chitty 2.0’), he scores; exuding brilliance and charisma in every frame. Yes, there are the trademark styles and mannerisms, but Rajnikanth transcends style and goes one better with Endhiran. His restraint while playing the scientist, the frustration that he shows while his scientific endeavours go wrong, underscore the fact that he is a brilliant actor who has been bogged down by commercial demands and compulsions. But, the focal point of the performance is definitely the robot. Chitty, the innocent child like robot is cute and loveable and dashing once romance starts flowing through his veins – wires. And, it is when the destroyer arrives that we see the Rajni in all his splendour. There seems to be absolutely no one who can come even close when playing a devilish destroyer. The outrageous and maniacal laugh as he proclaims his invincibility is a masterpiece – a throwback to the heydays of Rajnikanth the villain. The decades have not dimmed his brilliance and charisma one bit. And, the effort he has put into Endhiran shows in all frames; be it the fights or dance sequences; the desire to excel still burns bright. Aishwarya Rai looks ethereal as always. Though it is a bit difficult to still accept her as a college student, she delivers when it matters. Not the usual Shankar heroine (songs and dance only stuff) here, she is almost the fulcrum of the story.
Scripting wise, Endhiran does have its flaws, which is a bit disappointing. The first half is a smooth and jolly ride as the cute Chitty takes centre stage. A couple of fights set the tone for the fans to go overboard with excitement, a few lighter moment most of which are enjoyable and two songs make it a relatively light hearted affair. Shankar’s ability to write commercial Tamil cinema elements (hero rescuing damsel in distress, witty one liners etc.) into a sci-fi script is commendable. That stops Endhiran from being a pure sci-fi flick, making it apt for all class audiences. Beginning of the second half is however not an apt extrapolation of the expectations raised in the first half. Though too much does not go wrong, there are portions which one feels could have been tighter. Some sequences, especially the ‘Ranguski’ part, are dragged along for more than a reasonable length. A couple of songs follow each other in quick succession which dampens things a bit. But, if you are willing to be patient through these minor glitches, the rest of the second half is racy, action packed and intelligent.
Action, as all might now, has been the talking point of Endhiran with world famous visual effects supervisors doing the job. The sequences have been conceived by Shankar (as shown in the titles) and do not lack in awe and magnificence. Be it on the train, on the truck or the highway – action is taken to a new plane in Endhiran. As expected, logic does fly out of the window now and then, but then, what is a Superstar film if there is no suspension of belief.
As expected, technical aspects of Endhiran are top notch. Special effects are world class (except a few occasions here and there) as they have been done by the best in the business, Stan Winston Studios and Industrial Light and Magic. The sheer effort that has gone into the CGI work is humungous, be it Rajni running along the side of a train or doing a Michael Jackson jive; everything looks as original as it can get. Camera by Ratnavelu captures what Shankar has envisioned, and translates it effectively on screen. Make up, by Banu, is exceptional and has made Superstar look even more stylish than he usually does. Re-recording does not look like the work done by an Oscar winner, especially in the final portions, but still manages to impress. Rahman’s songs which are already a rage sit well on the film, adding to the entertainment quotient. Dialogues by Shankar, Sujatha and Karki are sharp, using proper technical terminology well balanced with Tamil lines. Sabu Cyril shows his class once again, be it with the sophisticated labs or grand songs. His work stands out in particular in the ‘Irumbile Oru Idhayam and ‘Arima Arima’ songs. Anthony is as deft as ever with the scissors, adding to the tempo of the film.
Hats off to Shankar for the vision and the effort! He has taken Tamil cinema to a new plane on technical terms, showing that nothing is impossible. The sets, effects, sound, style are all amazing and good enough to rub shoulders with Hollywood counterparts, give or take a few points. But, the basic story is still a desi love triangle! That is where Shankar has shown his skills; making state of the art film merge with our regional cinema tastes. His genuine desire to take Indian cinema to greater heights reflects throughout the movie. But, it is not just Shankar who has this vision, Superstar too shares it with him. The man whom we have known for total style and charisma has shown that he is game for something new that does not fit in to the conventional Superstar mould. Even after years of stardom he genuinely wants to bring in and be part of change that will take Indian cinema to higher levels.
Overall, Endhiran is a ‘robotic, hypnotic, supersonic, Superstar’ experience, the first of its kind in Tamil cinema and the only one of its kind for a long time to come. It is going to take a Herculean effort to equal or better Endhiran within the confines of Tamil cinema. Let’s hope the day comes soon. For now, an ovation to the Endhiran team, Sun Pictures and Kalanithi Maran for showing faith in Shankar’s vision and to Hansraj Saxena for masterful execution of the project. If not for the faith, confidence and vision of these men, Shankar’s ten year dream would still have been just a dream.
Do Indian cinema a favour, watch Endhiran; let a 100 other Shankars feel bold enough to dream.
Verdict: Indian cinema’s pinnacle of evolution – ‘Robot sapiens’

ENTHIRAN Released in Dubai Galleria theatre today(30.09.10) morning show 7.30am.
Dubai First viewers review here:
Initial rhetoric of usual Rajini introduction scene is not there, instead he is introduced in the opening scene as Dr.Vaseegaran who finds to enthuse a Robotic object into human, he creates this robot with all that a man can do and cannot do. He finally succeeds after 10 years of research, but he fails in the test by experts as it cannot have any feelings of love, compassion, attachment or obeying attitudes. He re-implants all this and gets interrupted by Danny who is jealous. Rest you have have to see in theatre and i am not going to tell you the story to remove your interest.
Endhiran Movie Highlights:
* Shankar has used technology and special effects to the core.
* Aish looking great, acted well, she looks old in some scenes.
* Rajini is just GREAT GREAT GREAT
* He takes more |Avatars, say more than 1000 and Dasavatharam is a mustard here.
* I think none other than Rajini can mantle this role and none would fit into this role.
* Excellent camera and fighting scenes, superb train stunt by chitti
* Music is good and background music is pressed to take the scenes to the new heights.
* Dont miss to take your children, 4-14, they will enjoy more than you.
* chitti (rajini villain)’s actions are superb,
* A repeat watch may be recommended.
* Songs picturisation just superb
* computer, graphics, tehno – all class
* Razor edge dialogues by sujatha – just great
* Karunas, Santhanam – a waste in the film, they have less role to play.
We MUST SALUTE SHANKAR for this great movie in Tamil. We may have seen many movies in hollywood, but to bring hollywood to kollywood – one shoudl have guts, i think he has achieved this coveted goal.
Watch in sun tv about the interview/review of this first show in Galleria.

ENTHIRAN WILL BE SO SIMPLE- SHANKAR
Allaying fears of a section of Rajini fans as to whether they would be able to understand ‘Endhiran’ as it is a sci-fi film, director of the movie Shankar has said that the movie would be so simple.
“Endhiran is one of the simplest sci-fi movies anyone has made. People with less exposure to technology will also be able to understand it easily. And they can thoroughly enjoy the film”, he said.
“At the same time, even those well versed with science and technology too could relish Endhiran”, Shankar says and adds: “We have made the film in such a way that it would be a perfect treat for everyone”.
With just three days left for the movie’s release, Shankar has thanked everyone involved in the mega project. “My special thanks to Superstar Rajinikanth and producer Kalanithi Maran”, he said.
