Rajnikant gains weight for 'Endhiran' South superstar Rajnikant is reportedly gaining weight to shoot for his mega-budget Endhiran . The director of the film, S. Shankar, has asked the actor to put on some extra kilos.
58-year-old Rajnikant was maintaining a strict diet regimen to stay fit and lean. He cut down on rice for quite some time. But for ‘Endhiran’, the cereal is back in Rajni’s meals. It is believed that in one part of the film, Rajnikant was required to look fat. So the director insisted him to gain 20 kgs. The film’s shoot is going on in Vellore, where the actor is reportedly gorging on Biryani and has already gained 6 kilos.
Such a dedication from an actor at his age is unexpected. ‘Endhiran’ stars Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai opposite Rajnikant. Rajnikant plays character Vaseegram and Illiyetta (The Robot), whereas Ash essays the role of Sharmili. The movie also stars actor Danny Denzongpa in important role. It has music by A R Rahman .
In fact, a lot of hard work was involved in deciding Rajnikant’s look for the film. He is playing twin characters of a scientist and a robot. For one of his characters, Rajni is made to look much younger.
The film, made on a whopping budget of almost Rs 120 crore, is the most expensive movie to come from the Chennai Film Industry. The movie was named ‘Robot’ initially but was named ‘Endhiran’ after its previous producers backed out from the project. Now the production rights are bought by Sun Pictures.
Directed by S Shankar, who has given films like Nayak and blockbusters ‘Boys’ and Anniyan ,sivaji, ‘Endhiran’ is slated for 2010 release.
